On Killing a tree
Once a tree, So proud and free; Oh! so very tall, Who could never fall; Bright and green, Like one I've never seen; On killing a tree.... He is no more free, Dead with no more life, After one swing of a knife (axe); Oh I admired it, But now It's long gone, Before dawn; With his last breath, That ended with a threat; No song to hear, But now a great pain to bear.
